Colleges and Universities

Juba University
This is a landmark of the City. It is big and government owned and has a well known boundary wall that is a reference point. It offers a limited number of undergraduate degrees. The main college had relocated to the North during the war and they are still bringing the courses and lecturers back to Juba. To enable this they are constructing halls, offices, lecture theatres and houses.

The French Cultural Center is in the University of Juba. There are classes twice a week from 5.30 to 7.30. I will go there to enroll. I need to brush up on my “Francais”. (Je Parle Francais, et toi??) Call 0955 381983

Southern University, Juba
This is the college known for accountancy classes. Its well hidden behind John Garang school in Konyo Konyo. They have teachers from Makerere, one of the best Universities in Eastern Africa. They are associated with International Leadership Institute in USA. The term opens next week, so I will go in July to see what courses are running, mostly evening classes.

John Garang International School
The school belongs to the family of the late leader. It is behind the Ministries. The school started early 2011 but there is a huge demand for their services so they already have all streams. The students are mainlly nationals but a few asians have joined. They teach the British system of education. They boast a computer laboratory and are planning many more features as they grow.

There are several other small colleges including the Catholic University, Bridge University, and others.
